So, it looks like he's with the band "The Thorns". Are they any good?

Anyone heard anything off his albums since "100% Fun"??

Thorns are pretty good stuff as all the members (Sweet, Pete Droge, and Shawn Mullins) are talented guys. It's kinda folk-country-ish stuff and they have song samples on their website so you can decide for yourself.

As far as Matthew Sweet, he's put out some good stuff since 100%. It's nothing ground-breaking, just his usual polished pop.

OT- Shawn Mullins lives a few miles from me. We used to go see him at a local joint all the time back in the early 90's when he was still producing and distributing all his own CD's. Saw him doing some gardening at his place on Dekalb Ave as I rode by Sunday morning.

Blue Sky on Mars was pretty good, though not a pop gem like Girlfriend. His cover of "Magnet and Steel" is worth hunting down, it takes a great pop song that's already at 10 and gives it "that extra to push over the cliff . . . eleven."

The couple of Thorns songs I've heard were OK, but less interesting than his solo work.

I have always liked Matthew Sweet- Too bad not many people know any of his songs, other then "girlfriend"
especially since the rest of Girlfriend is great too, "Divine Intervention", "Evangeline", "Day for Night", etc.

Sick of myself is the only song of his I know. I love that song though.
