No, it's not a fair portrayal at all, it's the usual left wing drivel and smearing attempt, trying to discredit the tea party movement.

The alternative isn't much better, but it's the lesser of the evils.
I thought the portrayal was very fair. Is it demonstrably wrong; are his facts wrong? Palin is one of the figureheads of this movement and every bit the idiot he thinks she is.

Wake up America, the Oligarhy has you.

Yep, and as the last two election cycles proved, we can't even vote our way free. Make no mistake the corporatists in power don't like the dems controlling the WH and congress, but it has barely slowed them down and certainly hasn't stopped them.

So...Dr. Paul Rand thinks Medicare is socialized medicine but "balks" at revising it to pay doctors less...and this twisted accusation of hypocrisy somehow miraculously paints the entire movement as hypocritical? Wow.

Intellectualism just ain't what it used to be.

LOL. Not a fair portrayal? Seems a fair percentage believe these sorts of things. Not all of course, but you can't argue a large percentage don't believe it, possibly even a majority. From a quick 30sec google search:

Link

According to this poll, 91% of Tea Partiers want a smaller government with fewer services. Despite this hostility to big government, 62% of Tea Partiers believe that Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are worth the cost (apparently no one bothered to tell them that Social Security and Medicare are evil Godless socialist programs). This would suggest that in order to achieve fiscal sanity the Tea Party believes that spending cuts are to be implemented elsewhere within the vast expenditures of the federal apparatus. However when one examines their beliefs on paying down the debt, the result is somewhat troubling. When asked whether they preferred deficit reduction or tax cuts, 49% of Tea Partiers said they would favor tax reduction while 42% would prefer deficit reduction.

"I got a letter the other day from a woman. She said, 'I don't want government-run health care. I don't want socialized medicine. And don't touch my Medicare.'"

"If you like the post office and the Department of Motor Vehicles and you think they're run well, just wait till you see Medicare, Medicaid and health care done by the government."

You guys truly are a trip.

You think the rampant protests during the Bush years were superior in intellectual prowess to the tea partiers? It's very easy to find stupid people in large crowds.

It boils down to this: Liberals smell what's coming. The strategy is to directly attack the Tea Party, because they present the biggest threat. Don't pretend you actually have an argument. It's all politics and you know it. If the tea party were left-leaning you'd be falling all over yourself to defend it, and we'd be calling you tea-baggers and posting threads on a political forum saying that, truly (really!), the leftist tea partiers are idiots.

Hehehe, you don't see how absurd you are to say if? If intellectuals were actually idiots intellectuals would be stupid. I guess so, but intellectuals aren't and won't ever be idiots. Things are as they are and not as they would be if because the way things are is what actually is. Deep, I know, but give it some thought.
