Matt Schaub > Michael Vick?

Schaub looks like he's an effecient pocket passer who can move around as well.
He will probably be starting somewhere else next year.
Atlanta should probably keep him and ditch Vick but they will never do that because of the tremendous investment in Vick.

actually, i was going to do a similar thread.

Schaub and Garcia vs Vick and McNabb.

good athlete but better field general vs better athlete but not as good a field general.

You said it much more elequently than I.

I've thought Vick to be vastly overrated from the time he was drafted. He was a great college back because he could make his team win games strictly based on his athleticism. It simply won't work in the pros, he'll never be a consistent passer, and he'll never be a consistent QB. Sure, he can be dazzling at times, and he's definitely spectacular when he's running around, but I'd rather have someone who can deliver the football in the right spot consistently.

I agree, but I don't think you can say he hasn't gotten any better because, this season, he has delivered the ball better but his receivers just can't catch.

Vick. The man has the strongest arm and the fastest feet combo in the NFL. They just need to run an offense where he can flourish e.g. stop passing the ball inside the 10 yd line.

lol, are people still even considering that garcia is better than mcnabb? i'm a huge garcia fan and love what he's doing with the eagles, but come on, mcnabb was having a monster season. the eagles season was dependent on their defense. when the defense played well, the eagles won; when the defense sucked, the eagles lost.

Vick is a walking highlight reel and possibly the worst QB in the league.

So you're saying that Marques Tuiasosopo, Aaron Brooks, Bruce Gradkowski, and Chris Weinke are better QBs than Vick?

I don't think Vick is all world QB but I do think he has suffered under a poor offensive scheme and coaching this year. What's the best scheme for Vick? I don't know but it's pretty obvious that the West Coast Offense isn't it.

As for who is the better QB....well, Schaub didn't exactly light it up against Philly's 2nd and 3rd stringers yesterday.

correct me if i'm wrong:

1 - doesn't this make it 2 consecutive losing seasons for vick as a starting quarterback ? wasn't the team 8-8 last year but 7-8 with vick as the starter ?

2 - didn't his coach vow to shape the offense AROUND vick in the preseason after his experimentations last year drew fair or unfair criticism ?

Schaub hasn't played in a game in a while, I think I'll give him a pass.
He showed signs that he is a competent QB.

Then on what basis can anyone say that, right now, Schaub is better than Vick? I'm not trying to defend Vick and I like Schaub but Schaub doesn't have enough on his resume to show much of anything at this point...he's all untested potential.

It just smacks of the typical "root for the backup mentality".

If Schaub can get on a team that competently runs a west coast offense (Green Bay when Favre retires) I think he's got a great chance though.

I don't say he's better than Vick, I say I don't know if he is.
Vick has been dissapointing thus far.

I've been talking to my friends about the same thing recently. Sure, Vick and McNabb are more entertaining to watch and CAN put up some huge numbers .. McNabb was the best QB in the league through the first few weeks of the season. But to be honest, both of them are unreliable. Vick doesn't win games and McNabb is far too injury prone. Both are fantastic athletes that can make some great plays but they're not consistent. At this point I'd take Garcia over McNabb while he plays this well. Very similar for Schaub and Vick.

Vick > Schaub. Ronnie Mexico needs someone to throw to because those Falcon receivers have bricks for hands.

This argument can be settled by Ween's "Boy's Club":

I am exaggerating, of course, but he really is not a QB that will lead a team to glory.
