Anyone got any experience with Matsonic mobo's?

Picked up a cheapo computer for a friend, based on the SiS 730 chipset, which from what I've heard isn't too bad, though not a top notch performer.

The product name is "MS8308D/E", mini-ATX, very plain, looks like a typical OEM cheapo board.

Just looking for oppinions, I guess I'll see what it's like soon enough anyway.

Since Matsonic is part of the Elitegroup conspirac ... *ahem* :) group of companies, I second that. It looks a lot like it's the well known and very usable PC-Chips M810LR with a different brand badge on - at least it's a very close relative.

Get the EP(266) suffixed revision 3.1 for Athlon XP support - you never know :)

regards, Peter

Ok, I thought it might be something like that.
AXP support won't be an issue, this box will only be used for some surfing and office type stuff, like a few hours a weeks tops.

Thanks guys.

I am awaiting delivery on a Matsonic MS8318E DDR mATX mb ........
It has the SiS 740 Integrated Chip Set and an unusual (for a micro mb) three (3) DDR dimm slots.
Integrated LAN, Video & Audio ........

Matsonic MS8318E

This will be my first Matsonic mb experience, but I have had good luck with the PCChips / Amptron versions of the SIS 740, so I expect no less from the Matsonic ......... !

You can already buy that board in its ECS incarnation L7SOM.

The ECS L7SOM has a different mb layout than the MS8318E ............. and has only two (2) DDR dimms to the Matsonic's three dimms.
The mb pcb also apperars to be slightly smaller in size using 6 mounting holes vs. 8 holes in the Matsonic .....?
