Hi,

I just got a couple stick of 64mb dimms which is pc100 from buddy. It's working fine on mine machine but i didn't want to mix it with my pc166 hyperX so i tried putting it on my dads old comp. the board is a Matsonic model 5025 which has 4 simms slots and 3x dimms. The manual says it takes dimms too. but when i put in the dimms both of the sticks together it comes up black screen. tried putting in only one at a time to any of the 3x slots it still didn't work. remind that the dimms work fine on my board is is a kt333 chipset. Also one thing to note is that the ms-5025 does have a dimm voltage control. 3.3v and 5v. First it was set on 3.3 but it didn't seem to work in any configuration either way. Is my dimms slots dead? or am i missing something.

please help,

Shingi

I had an intel i-430-vx based chipset with 4 EDO SIMMS and 1 SD DIMM. There was a jumper specifically either for selecting the SIMM or the DIMM. This was applicable only for some motherboards, because I have seen 440LX chipsets using EDO-RAM and SD-RAM simultaneously..
If you are using the DIMM, then select voltage to 3.3 volts. Now from what i speculate, you should be having a set of jumpers adjacent/closeby to this particular jumper that lets you select the type of RAM you want to use.

I check for a jumper but there isn't one. there is only the voltage setting. I looked at the manual as well as looked on the board around the area where the dimms are, but there is none.

if anyone have this board please tell me if ur dimm slots work. the clippers on the dimm slots are very low, it actually wont clip on the sdrams. but the manaul does say it use sdrams.

One thing i am beganning to worry bout is that maybe this board only takes the first generation of sdram- pc66 not pc100. Even so pc100 sdrams are backwards compatible to run 66 mhz bus if i'm not mistaken.

Any more help is greatly appreciated
