Has anyone used one of these before, and know if it works in Linux?

Does it require any special software or does it work at the hardware level? It does mention software but it sounds like it may work without it and the OS should just see a single monitor, is that the case?
If yes, is there a way in Linux to ensure when I open a program it will not open half way between two monitors? Basically can I set some kind of virutual boundaries that it will abide by so I don't get windows flinging themselves all over the place? Even in Windows this can be pretty bad with multi monitor setup.
Still trying to find a solution to get a sane 3 monitor setup in Linux and thinking this could be the key. Currently I'm using two machines and synergy which works ok, but when doing anything graphically intense (something as simple as a javascript hover effect in a web page) on the client then it makes the cursor all choppy or locks up the entire GUI. Also a pain having to manage two machines not to mention double the power usage.
