"One of our deep throat made it clear that G800(Code named Condor 2) is almost complete to be released. Though the Announcement is being postponed, G800 will be released on this December, he said. The source also mentioned that it is not decided whether they will show G800 or not, in this Las Vegas Show."

and!

The zoom features among other things are working under Win2k now! Now if only Intel could get it's Webcam Pro to work under Win2k, I'd be all set...

😀 I hope this card kicks some major booty. I love Matrox as a company, and trust them more than ATI (the other Canadian video card maker.. EH?).

As a side note, for me, as long as I've got my Intel Webcam plugged into the USB port during the install, the drivers are automatically there. I can't load the point and click software, but that is crapish anyway.

I think i read somewhere that the matrox g800 wasn't going to be as fast or powerful as the nv20 but i still might want the g800 over the nv20 if the price difference is big enough & if the overall visual quality is better than the nv20 in both 3D/2D, speed isn't as important as visual quality for me, i'll rather have a perfect picture with adverage speed than a 90% picture at incredable speed.

NaughtyusMaximus question for you: so you did get the webcam to work under win2k? It's just the software that isn't compatible? SWEET!!!

i'll probably be getting a new vid card early next year depending on who executes better, 3dfx or matrox. i've had good experiences with both, and is speed really an issue anymore? should it be?

<< One thing clear is, refer to our source who strictly claims unnamed, G800 will feature some of special techniques that we could haven't faced before. Yet it is not clear that what kind of technique is used (and the source avoided direct answer), he referred that ¡¸The technique is from a certain 3rd Party¡¹. Maybe it is using some of features in DirectX 8.0, we guess. >>

hmmmmm....... questions asked.... where are bit boys?

Matrox were first to have EBM that was made by bit boys.... soooo... we havent heard anything from them for some time now. Maybe they are working for Matrox now. 😀

3rd Party? I would say Gigapixel 18 months ago (video card time cycle is 18 months in production) before the 3dfx buyout, but that tiling technology has already been implemented in cards such as the Kyro. HSR is already in the Radeon. I seriously do not know what it is, although its probably some sort of either cache on chip or HSR - or both.

Gigapixel and PowerVR/KYRO are similar, but not the same. ATI's HSR is not what I'd really call HSR. It is more just bandwidth saving because it isn't very effective. They are just using a hacked hierarchical Z and I think they also use early Z checks.
