The TNT2 Ultra could still mop the floor with the Matrox G400 in terms of frame rate, though.

But, hey... keep on partying like it's 1999, dude.

Most of my friends and families computers had TNT / TNT 2 Ultra / Vanta / M64 based cards at the time and they game me no reason to upgrade from my 16MB G400 w/ EVBM. (Environmental Bump Mapping)

I was gaming on a 19" Sylvania monitor at the time at either 1280 x 1024 or 1024 x 768. It ran Max Payne 1 w/o T&L just fine for me with great image quality. I still own this card and didn't upgrade until several generations later when the Geforce 4 Ti series came out and I needed DirectX 9 support. That was back when you had a new refresh every 6 months or so.
