Matrox G200 freezes on Win98se shutdown

I have installed an old G200 Millenium into a machine here and when shutting
down 98se, I end up with a black screen and the mouse arrow. The system
then just freezes completely.

I have installed the latest VIA 4-in-1, Matrox drivers/bios and the
Microsoft Win98se shutdown patch. Any ideas?
