LOL, total BS. Direct X9 full compliance my arse, and one card powering 4 flat panel monitors, yeah right! You can't even fit that many connectors on the back of the card. But the most obvious spec of all is the "64-bit, 96-bit, 128-bit color depths" ... 128 bit color! Too bad 64-bit is already hundreds of times more than the eye can see!

Actually, the Matrox G200 MMS already supports quad DFP support, it may be BS, but that part certainly isn't.

Matrox has failed miserably at every 3D part they have attempted so do not hold your breath. Fanboys: do not bother regurgitating that G400 was competetive for three months 'cause that ain't no kind of record to be proud of but just a curious timing anomaly -besides their drivers sucked. If they can bring more competition that is great. Ditto Creative 3DLabs. But until then, enjoy your Radeon or Geforce.

Well.... it has turned out G1k is a real thing. (partially so far) Both Anandtech and Hard OCP have actually seen the working unit over the weekend.

>Both Anandtech

All to be taken with a grain of salt of course. Anandtech was probably talking about "this Friday will be the 5-year anniversary of AnandTech. April 26, 1997"

I beleive this can do it .... the G800 only was rumors and it turned into a G550 and that was crap. The G1000 can defently do it knowing how much money matrox has ... and I think they can do it .... look how well the Radeon 8500 did after getting raped with the radeon with the GF2 Ultra. Dont just dismiss something without even seeing a review of it ..

Unfortunetly, look at the prices Matrox still wants for the 450/550 product line. 2d evidently commands a high price, and if this thing turns out to be a real contender, than I doubt that many of us will be able to afford one.
Matrox has even worse driver support than people ever thought Ati had, and Ati does'nt have that problem anymore. They'd better get it running real good right out of the gate, or else the paper the impressive specs are written on ought to flush with the rest of it.

I HOPE Matrox does it, that would ROCK.

Also, Matrox has always had STABLE drivers with the exception of their OpenGL problems, and GREAT dual-head support.

The G800 was a REAL BOARD, just never got out into the market, don't dismiss Matrox yet, it'd be great to see em come back!

This is kinda funny to see since most humans can't really see the whole benefit of 32 bit. But 128 bit????? Is Matrox gonna give us special glasses that can improve our visions and SEE those trillions and trillions, and hojillions of colors? Besides, its nearly too late for Matrox to come back in because ATI and NVIDIA are dominating the graphics industry.

The 64 bits (or 128 if a reality...) is't all for color depth.

64bit color allows for 16bit per channel RGB (plus alpha). This adds precision which will eliminate banding when multiple layers of blending and fog and stuff are used.

I am sure it has something to do with BIT***COUGH***BOYS and their XBA they claimed worked but never provided silicon. Matrox sucked anyway in the 3d arena, so they probably took a flier on them and it paid off HUGE. They worked together on Enviornment bump mapping so why not. Others are right though...won't be able to afford it and the drivers that come with it better be good. I had a Mystique and they didn't update crap.

Don't get me wrong...hope it is a big hit, could benefit since I run 2 monitors anyway...three would be better though! Not sure what new tech they could bring to the table beside displacement mapping...are the game writers going to support it right away...uh...no. Look at ATI/NVIDIA with truform and npatches...enough said.

The ability to do 8X sampling with awesome visuals does sound very appealing or even better yet running 1900 resolution with 4X...hmmm. I am interested but lets see what they really got..

And as always...anyone can be forgiven

The 64-bit and 128-bit color is still VERY useful too, go read John Carmacks ( yes the guy who wrote all teh game engines for ID... he should know what he's talking about agreed? ) .plan updates on www.bluesnews.com. He was openly advocating INTERNAL 64-bit color, BUT NOT 64-bit EXTERNAL COLOR, 64-bit color INTERNAL helps to ensure accuracy when rendering the images and such. Plus alpha channels and good stuff like that.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out...
