Matrox DualHead2Go: Two LCD's + Laptop Screen

Heh. I seem to recall that my old 9100 had room for two monitors.
That said, I'd rather just get a super-high-resolution projector anyway.

sorry to go a bit off topic, but is there a way to run a game on my 2005fpw from my notebook without it expanding from my notebook? i dont want dual-screens or anything. i just want to be able to play games from my uncle's M1210 notebook on my 2005fpw natively, i guess.

I got one to use at work. I'm sending it back.

Brief assessment: this thing is a POS. Don't waste your money.

Longer assessment: the DualHead2Go does not work with Intel IGP-based computers, which are the enormous majority of computers using IGPs at all, and a large number of laptops as well. (No, I do not have specific numbers. But 80% of all the systems at my tech company's office are strictly Intel integrated graphics.)

The DualHead2Go works only at 1024x768 on any attached display if the system is Intel IGP-based. There is no workaround. They even state this limitation in the docs.

This becomes a problem when you consider that every single LCD monitor these days, 17" and up, has a NATIVE resolution of 1280x1024 or higher. Consequently (and this is my experience) productivity apps become literally unreadable and text distorted. This makes a cobbled-together dual-display system quite useless for anythign except trivial tasks.

Only systems that have an ATI or NVidia IGP onboard will be able to support 1280x1024. The DualHead2Go can also go no higher than that in any case.

For game playing at limited resolutions you can probably use this product. But this is a solution that doesn't provide a solution for most people.

While I agree the limitation is annoying, they specifically say it only works with certain GPU's. That doesn't quite make it a piece of crap to me, but eh

Yeah, you're probably right, but that it doesn't work with 90% of all IGP-based PCs out there strikes me as ridiculous. They also do not advertise that - you have to buy it to find out the hard way. That's what made me mad.
