I am old school Matrox fan for clarity. Can someone recommend an AGP card with high quality display that will suit general computing / light gaming?

I am not a big gamer and in the 'good old days' testing would include text clarity etc, but not anymore. It seems it's all about gaming... Any good reviews out there including clarity?

Anyone out there very picky about clarity that can share a suggestion for a new AGP card for me? Yes I am aware there are other Matrox cards out there, but looking for other Clear winners;) BTW I am feeding a Viewsonic VP2030b LCD

Clarity's not meaningful if you use the DVI-D port on your VP2030b. It's digital, so 2D clarity's not going to be any better on a $599 top-of-the-line card than it will be on a $29 bargain bin card. Get one of those DVI-D cables for your monitor (or dig it out of the box), and use the ClearType PowerToy (just do a search for it - not hard to find) to tweak your text output the way you like it. Clarity did matter with D-SUB (i.e. VGA) ports because they're analog.

Exactly. Unless you have a really cheap card on which the manufacturer went with the cheapest and crappiest components for everything, you won't have any issues with DVI... it pretty much either works or doesn't work (doesn't work, that is, at high resolutions with aforementioned ultra-crappy video cards).
