You know what I kinda liked....I liked that, well, the ending certainly wasnt a hollywood ending. There ono "spoilers" tag so I wont say why I think that, but, for those who have seen it....think about it, after all three movie, on a large scale only ONE good thing happened, and they treat that in a very tentative "for how long" sort of way. Sure there was a few small personal bonuses, like neo and trinity falling in love, etc. etc. but on the whole, what good came from #1? What good came from #2? What good came from #3? I would have been deeply disappointed had everything just come to a fairy-tale ending, everyone gets their respective girl, the knight in shining armor comes to save the day and humans and machines walk hand in hand down the street. Hollywood tends to be VERY unrealistic sometimes, but I don't think thats a problem for #3.
JCE10: There was still story, but you have to remember that this is the end, its time for a little more action and a little less talk, the movie cant go on forever bringing up new questions and possibilities. And, if you look, it DOES manage to answer the questions from #2. Albeit a bit vague sometimes.
And you know I think the only way to make a trilogy of movie that WONT be percieved as "ruined" by moviegoers is to make ALL three at the same time, and dont let anyone see them until its all done. People form their own opinions of how they think it should end and what they want to happen, and when it doesn't turn out that way (and inevitably it wont, theres just too many ideas of how it "should" be) they feel disappointed. Thats why LotR is a sure thing, because we allready know how it ends, its pretty hard to be disappointed because Frodo doesn't end scoring with some hot elf chick and living happily ever after. It might be cool if were to end that way, but nobody expects it to, they expect it to end exactly how the book does. Nobody leaves disappointed, well, except maybe the people who never read the book, hehe I know people who thought Two Towers was disappointing because of some of the things that went on 🙂
