Matrix character names

It sounds like their names in the real world are what their handles, screennames, and nicks were in the Matrix. Can anyone confirm this? If this is a matrix, I don't want to be WinkOsmosis in the real world!

Watch the first one when he meets Trinity or when he has his first run in with the Agents.

I think when the war is over and the machines defeated, Neo will just go back to being Mr. Anderson (forgot what his first name was?)

Yes. He expected Trinity to be a guy. If you also watch the part where he is being interrogated by the Agents, they say that he lives two lives. One as Mr. Anderson and the other as an internet hacker who goes by Neo.

Think of it this way. Since they were supposedly victim/prisoners in the Matrix, I'm sure they would rather not use those names. And instead they made names up for themselves.

On the otherside of the coin, (the writers side), Morpheus (being a person that woke people up), Cypher (being something he wasn't), Neo (being the oNe) etc etc...i think the names were carefully chosen (most of them) for the plot.

I found some VERY itneresting theories on the movie from this site
(http://matrix.ugo.com/zionswitchboard/messageview.cfm?catid=39&threadid=8921) WARNING!!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!

Worth reading through just that one thread. They talk about the the "real world" outside of the Matrix being another Matrix. Their theories are pretty sound in context with the sequel. A good read. 🙂
