Last week I attended a Labview hands on seminar held in Livonia,MI. I walk into the room and everyone looks older and experienced, looked like anyone of them could be my boss. I was the youngest one there by ~15years.After the intro we started doing very simple exercises in Labview, it took the class average an hour to do where its a 15min exercise. Now the NI guy is about to show basic functionality of tthe program, like how to place and object, how to save file,....blah blah... then after he placed something on the window and deleted it; A guy who introduced himself as a FORD research Engineer earlier, asked the question: "Wait wait, please back up a step, how didd you do that ?"
NI guy: "Do what?"
FORD's future: " Delete the thing you just did"
the NI guy replies like it was a reasonable question
NI guy: " You select it and you hit delete"

I seriously stopped what I was doing and turned around ready to laugh at the joke, because I thought he was pulling his leg. I find out the guy is back to his "biggest project of the year" , a simple labview exercise, and he was not trying to crack a joke. He was very serious and ... wow he then follow up with another really dumb question.

I wondered since then how could he , could Ford.... get such a job or get hired or even graduate from college.

How many people like him are out there ?

How does this happen??

anyways ... juust thought I would share this

What does being a research engineer have to do with knowing labview?

I fail to see the correlation.

and how about your typo?

kidding aside, it's quite common. heck, older architects cannot even use autocad.

Just because sombody isn't computer-literate doesn't make them dumb.

And the reverse is also true! ;)
