Matinees are still a bargain.

I'm going to see The Hulk today (at 1:00) with my girlfriend and her brother, and I was surprised to learn that here in Ann Arbor, the national capital of high prices for EVERYTHING, a matinee is only $5.75.

A normal, nighttime movie at the theater I'm going to is $8.75.

I guess some things never change, which is a very good thing.

<nostalgia>i remember when movies were $5.00 and the sunday matinee was $2.50</nostalgia>. $5.75 is still good compared to the $10.00 price in the nyc area.

Movie theatre near my parents has $2.00 admission for regular times.

They just had Finding Nemo, currently playing Charlies Angels, and are supposed to be getting the Hulk next week, so it's not like they are old movies they are getting.

It's a great bargain for families.

With student ID, one of the theaters here has night time for $7.00, but I haven't tried it recently.

There used to be a theater near me that showed second-run movies for $2.00 any time of day, but they closed down a few years ago. But, $6.00 is still a decent deal compared to almost $9 for a night showing...
