(He's a Gelert who happens to be a farmer, not a farmer who grows Gelerts!) has three fields. One field is an equilateral triangle, one field is a circle, and one field is a square. The square field is 75% larger in area than the triangular field, and 50% larger in area than the circular field. In order to completely fence all three of the fields, exactly 4000 metres of fencing is required.

What is the total area of all three fields, in square metres? Please round to the nearest whole number, and please submit the answer as just a number. For example, if the answer is 150 square metres, you would just submit the number "150".

you copied that directly off your HW site or something?

anyway, I would start by expressing each shape's area as a function of its perimeter and go from there.

please do your own homework.

please ask for help and we will help you.

please ask for help, and we will give you 100% help.

ask us to do it all for you and we will yell at you mercilessly...

What'd this originate from?

What I mean is,

"What work that you should be doing yourself are you asking us to do for you?"

Oh, and wtf is a "gelert"?

its just basic algebra... set up simultaneous equations... you dont need a ph.D in mathematics to solve this problem, you just need high school math...

Its not homework. A girl i know plays on neopets and she needs to answer this question for some avatar.

I suppose she does not need to learn math since she has a killer smile with flashy eyes that will get you to do everything she wants.

Tell her to do it herself by setting up a set of simultaneous algebraic equations.
You can win if you solve this yourself and then sit her down to teach her how to do it herself. If she is not interested in having you teach her how to do it, then walk away and forget about her.

You are right, she can get me to do everything with a killer smile and flashy eyes. But she doesn't. She asked me if I knew the answer, I tried to work it out and I seem to be missing something. I told her I could not but said I would try to find someone that could. I'd be happy to show her how to do it, once I figure it out!

Let a be the side of the triangle, b be the radius of the circle, and c be the side of the square. You have these equations:

3a+2*pi*b + 4c = 4000
a^2*sqrt(3)/4*1.75 = c^2
pi*b^2*1.5 = c^2

Solve for a, b, c and evaluate a^2*sqrt(3)/4+ pi*b^2 + c^2.

Well doesnt matter, the time expired. No avatar for her.

And by the way, be careful who you judge. Just because she's very pretty doesnt mean she's not intelligent. She isnt your average girl. Just because she forgot how to do an algebra problem doesnt have anything to do with intelligence. She's one of the most intelligent people I've ever spoke to.
