Say for example I have one equation, such as x^-1. There's two parts of the graph with an asymptote in the graph. What was that word I needed? Do I call the two parts of the graph "incontiguous?" (probably not, it's not in the dictionary). And is each part of the graph is called a section or some other math vocab word? (Basically I need some vocab to describe graphs with multiple sections etc)

Thanks for the help cuz IB math portfolios suck :disgust:

the graph is discontinuous

Hmm, that sounds quite right, actually. Thx :) Can I refer to the part of the graph that is on the left of the asymptote as a "discontiguous part of the function?"

Incontiguous is a word!

Math portfolios were fun ... generally very easy (my course is Mathematical Methods ... it's the intermediary one). I don't know about yours ...

Hehe, I just finished my IB finals. Wasn't THAT hard ... results will be in January.
