I'm going to verbally harass the first person to try to help him with the answer.

It's this new invention called a calculator. You should really look into getting one ;)

This is not ubuntu. This is ATOT. Take your "everybody helps everybody" approach to some other forum little boy.

isnt this -204?

...the whole * (16x) comment should be the tipoff, anything times 0 = 0, but if you want you can break it down...

-3(8(x^2)+2^2 =

-3(8x^2)+2^2
-24x^2 + 4

0+4 * 0 = 0

ive got no clue lol. i know anything times 0 is zero but wouldnt that be at least like -12...

=-3(8(0)^2 +2)^2
=-3(0 + 4)
=-12

? AHHHHH

edit: oh, i see, it was the * 0 (16x) that did it. out of curiosity, did i even do the above correct? thanks multiband....also, why didnt you distribute the -3 by 2 as well as the 8?

No dude. Look at is this way All this -3(8(x^2)+2)^2 is irelevant. Yes, you get -12 but it's still being multiplied by 16x which equals zero. Anything times zero is zero.

So even if you has 1500^5(59)*16x where x=0 the answer is still zero.

haha, i know it is for sure...i suck at math. but how is this not right:

=-3(8(0)^2 +2)^2
=-3(0 + 4)
=-12

i dunno why multiband didnt distribute the -3 by 2 as well as 8. for some reason i wasnt even paying attention to the 16x which made the problem, basically.

I feel embarrassed for you just reading this, but anyways

(-3(8(x^2)+2)^2)*0

It don't matter what the heck "-3(8(x^2)+2)^2" turns out to be since its multiplied by 0 the answer is 0, you fail at maths and lifes.

Any time you're given a variable equal to zero, look for quick ways to make the whole equation equal zero. In this case, 16x=0, so you know that the whole equation is zero. Anyway, here's how you'd solve the equation the long way:

-3(8(x^2)+2)^2 * (16x)
-3(8(0^2)+2)^2 * (16*0)
-3(8(0)+2)^2 * 0
-3(0+2)^2 * 0
-3(2)^2 * 0
-3(4)*0
-12*0
0

Also, you don't deserve a high school diploma if you can't solve that in about 30 seconds, even if you work it out all the way.
