Now I have this expression and my answer is completely different from what my friend thinks it is. The expression looks like this.

4x^-2(yz)^-1
----------------
2^3x^4y

My answer was
1
-------------
2x^6y^2z

and hers is
1
--
2z

I was wondering if anyone would be able to confirm one of the two answers?

If I interpreted your parenthesis(or lackthereof) correctly...you are right

However your question is very unclear because of how you wrote it.

(4x^-2)(yz)^-1
----------------
(2^3)(x^4)y

the ^-1 applies to the (yz)

maybe that will help alittle?
