I always hated people who said:

"You derive it" when they really mean "You differentiate it"

derive != differentiate just because the term is derivative.

Same with "You times it"

And then there's the people who never read out parenthesis when reading an equation to you. "Quantity of" please. How the hell can I write something down when you're just telling me variables and numbers and then I have to squeeze them in later to realize that I didn't write down what needed to be written.

Okay.

Just got back from my GRE class. Furious I didn't get an 800 on my diagnostic math portion.

You can't vent until you get an 800. :D

I got an 800 on the SAT Quantitative section, and an 800 on the GRE Quantitative. Sadly, I ended up only using my LSAT score. I took the GRE, LSAT, and GMAT.

I got 800 on GRE and perfect score on GMAT (dont remember what it was).
I never heard people say "derive it" when they mean "diff it."

Yeah, you derive an equation and you differentiate a function. Makes sense to me.

BTW, nothing special on my GRE on either verbal or quant, but I'm sitting here writing my masters thesis for Atmospheric Sciences. So, I guess it didn't matter, although I'm not the greatest grad student ever.

Oh wait, this is ATOT. I meant to say I got straight 800s on each section of the GRE, a 5 on the written part, my PhD thesis is 100 pages long and perfect, and when I get home every night I have sex with my hot supermodel wife.

Fixed :)

I think that the subset of ATOT posters that pays attention to GRE threads is skewed to the smarter end of the spectrum.
