(10/x+3) + (10/3) = 6

(10/x+3) + (10/3) - (10/3) = 6 - (10/3)

(10/x+3) = (6-(10/3))

(10/x+3) -3 = (6-(10/3)) -3

10/x = (6-(10/3)-3)

- Cross Multiply -

(10/(6-(10/3)-3)) = x

x = -30

I was going to say, that's what I got in my head, and I just checked myself on paper. 3/4 isn't right.

WAaaaaaaiiit...... it is (10/x+3) or (10/(x+3))?

Edit: 😛 You need to be more clear with math like this.

what would be the difference if the denominator was in parentheses?

Think of it this way, Letting X = 1;

10/1 + 3 = 13

10/(1+3) = 10/4 = 2.5

PEMDAS, you must always do operations in parens first.

Yeah, all the -30 folks, I appreciate the help, but you are, unfortunately, wrong. 🙂 I have the answer key right in front of me.

we are correct, you just wrote the question wrong, the question should be (10/(x+3)) + (10/3) = 6, not (10/x+3) + (10/3) = 6, the latter question(the one u posted) will give u -30 for x, while the correct form of question will give u 3/4 for x.
