In my last calculus class years ago...
the prof told us there were 4 significant irrational number constants...
e i pi & phi.
I know the first 3 very well.

What is the meaning of phi, what is its approximated value, what standard calculations would it be used in?

I know nothing of phi, and cant find anything with google.

Also this.

Phi = Golden ratio. Phi is a proportion found in nature very very often. Those two sites give a good explanation of it. Also search for "golden number +nature" for examples of phi in nature.
