Mates probs with a duron 750

The chip is running at 44 degrees while under normal load (setting up win2k etc). His case temp is about 35, but the proc fan/hs is only about 5 mm from the side of his PSU (midi tower case). Also, his psu is only 250W - is this enough for the chip ? I know TBirds have to have high wattage PSUs, but no idea about durons. Thnx muchly :)

There seem to be a number of 250W power supplies on the recommended list, but they put out a good amount on the 3.3+5v chanels. The instability can be caused by high drain devices such high end video cards, too many fans, etc, which reduce the cpu core v below stability threshold, but that's less of a problem w/ midtowers and non-overclocked CPU's.
44C is not too bad with a mediocre fan. Really depends on the speed of the CPU. A better heatsink+fan may be in order if the CPU exceeds 55C. However, remember that windows uses ACPI to cool the CPU when it is running, so the CPU may actually be cooler when in windows.
