Matching Video cards to AMD Processor Speeds

I am interested in first person shooter games. I want to know which video card goes well with which processors. I am considering these cards.

Raedon 8500
Geforce 3 Ti500
Geforce 3 Ti200
Geforce 2 Ti200

Currently I have a Gf2Ti200 with an AMD TBird 850

Your advice is very much appreciated.

Geforce3 series will work nicely in ANY system 800mhz and above, 1300+ is where they really begin to shine. Any lower and the card is barely getting enough cpu juice.

Geforce2 was designed for cpus 500mhz and up, i believe they max out with cpus in the 1200-1300mhz range.

Not scientific answers just what i remember reading.

This doesn't pertain to the exact cards you're considering, but anyways...I had an AMD 750 and GF2 Prophet II GTS, was getting 3d2001mark scores of around 2800. Had old Tyan S2380 (100mhz bus that was DDR'd to 200mhz). I think that the slow processor and FSB speed was handicapping the card. I was getting FPS in my Starfleet Command game of 40ish.

When I switched to AMD XP 1900, Epox 8KHA+, same video card, my scores went to 3800. At this point, I think that the vid card is holding the rest of the system back. FPS went from 40's to 70's...

Depends on which FPS games you're considering also. Games like Quake seem to run faster than some newer ones, say, Alien vs Predator 2 or Serious Sam, which are much slower.
