Buying new sli system with 2-7800GT(s). 1 gig ram. What is the max CPU that is the best long term value. I do not want to buy too much due to bottle neck issues. I am guessing at the AMD x2 4200.

Are you overclocking? What do you need a deal core for? Whats your budget?

A lot of guys are buy cheap 146 opterons and making them into FX-57's or better..that's only $165

A lot of guys are buying 170's for dually and making them into Dual FX-55s or 2600Mhz with ease..That's $390.

Sweet card setup BTW - should last you a very long time.


Overall since you mention encoding I thing Opty 170 is where it's at.🙂
