I am looking to purchase an amd 64 3200+ with an abit kv8 pro motherboard and some new ram. However when i was reading the specs from amd's site it states that the 64 bit processors are only compatible with up to pc2700 ram. Does this mean that getting anything above pc2700 would be a waste? Or am i completely off the mark here?
Any and all help is appreciated, thanks

Completely off the mark. Simply go to the website of the abit kv8pro and look at the compatible memory if you want to make sure you get memory that works with the board. PC3200 works completely fine on that board. Probably PC3700 will work as well. Just get name brand or use their compatibility list and you will be fine. You are thinking of the older 242 and 244 Opteron's that only worked with PC2700. All newer Opterons and ALL AMD 64'S WORK WITH PC3200 or higher (if you overclock choose wisely)
