I've had a profile on match.com for awhile now and its been pretty useless. today i find out i have an email from another member. problem is, i can't read the email or even see who its from.

i really don't want to spend $30 just to read 1 email and find out its someone i'm not interested in or its from a "fake" person. fake = not an actual member.

i wish i could at least see who it is and then see if its worthwhile. fvcking personals sites.

it may be that one person who you will be happy the rest of your life with. the girl of your dreams, yes its her. why worry about 30.00 when your talking about a lifetime of happiness and memories. youve spent money on other things that didnt pan out before so why not just take a chance? it may be a super model who just happen to be really lonely so she joined match.com because she is tired of rich guys and popular guys and decided its time for that average joe with no life.

take a chance!!!!

just remember that match.com censors email addresses in the body of their messages without telling you. make sure you put spaces or something between each letter.

put the 30.00 towards a treadmill so when you do finally meet a girl she can lose the weight from her past marriage

Ahey? So you signed up but you didn't pay for it?

My mate is on match. He has dated one girl or about 5 dates and shes a bit of a psycho :p, and has dropped her. Second girl is more fun and more normal but they have been on 2 dates so far. He has the numbers of 2 other girls and has not used match as it is getting a bit confusing remember who is who :p.

A mates mate used match and has been doing alright. Another was seeing a bit of a psycho also. Another guy I know used another website and married her. 4yrs later still married and 2 lovely daughters.

As did I, almost 8 years ago. Not sure how much it's changed since then, but if I suddenly found myself single again, I'd give it another shot.

oh man, I used to meet all kinds of head cases, err, I mean, girls on internet date sites.
Really, lots of girls. There used to be a website named kiss.com which I believe joined with match.com a couple years back. There was a unique (at the time) feature that allowed you to instant message another person on the website in near real time. It was more like a singles bar but online and was alot of fun. I met every walk of life from 3rd grade school teacher who should have been a pron star to a porn star that should have been a 3rd grade teacher.
One night a girl and I hit it off and she wanted to come over, at 2am ;)
She came over but piss drunk and passed out. The next morning when she woke up, she was actualy mad at me for not taking advantage of her and started to trash my bedroom. Thats when it became apparant to meet someone in a public place for the first time. Generaly it was alot of fun but you need to weed out the fake profiles. If a picture looks too professional or a profile seems impersonal or too short, well, you make the call. There are also a ton of scams surrounding profiles that try and get you to join another website and the like.

In the end its all in good fun and dont go in expecting anything.
Much of it depends on the features of the website. Look for real time chat, thats what did it for me :)

Well, let's see your profile and maybe we can help you out.

BTW, I wouldn't sit around waiting for a chick to send you a message on something like Match. If you see someone you like, message her and see if she responds. If you're really interested based on the picture or profile or whatever it is that you're looking at, then you might try following up with a second message. If she doesn't respond, don't take it personally. Just move on. Nothing lost.

I'm thinking chicks on these sites get TONS of messages, and guys get very, very few. I doubt a lot of women are actively searching out guys to email.

Most likely it is a spam. You can't just setup a profile and expect the chics to come pouring in. They don't need to, they get a tone of guys sending them email. You have to try contacting them. Emails, not winks. You will get the occasional wink from women, rare to get an email cold.

Really, you get out of match what you put in. If you don't put any effort into it don't expect miracles. Do you really want to meet a woman? If you do, stop sitting on your butt and do something about it.

I have been paying for match for about 2 months. I have had a profile on there about 3 years, but never got any hits. As soon as I started paying and sending out some emails I got to talk to real women. Amazing, I know. It isn't immediate, I got no replies from about 6 women, but you just have to keep trying.

I just met a girl about 3 weeks ago from there who I have really hit it off with, has worked out well so far.

Well that sucks.

Dump match.com.

Or go the safer route and spend a few bucks on eharmony.

I did pay for 1 month and emailed tons of girls but never got any responses. i think i did get one response and she said not interested.

also, right now for my area, there's like 1-2 new people a day, if that. so i've already went through whats available within the criteria i put in.

If you read the fine print, you can cancel your subscription within 3 days and get a full refund. I imagine if you abused this they'd simply remove your account or "ban" you or something. I"ve done it once with Yahoo Personals and once with Match. In general, though, I found both services pretty lame.

went through the eharmony thing and found out i had no matches in the entire world.
not sure i want to spend money on that and not even be able to see other people's profiles. or can you? i just assumed it worked liek in the commercials and if you didn't get any matches with the whole psychological test, you were screwed.

lol,
yup, if you are directed to another website, scam. Its difficult at first but once you figure out how to convey humor in type form, then you dont come off as either desperate or a stalker. And as Damone from Fast Times at Ridgemont High always says, if you throw the vibe out there to everyone, your bound to get one that bites. As long as your looking to have fun, then it will be. Wait till you meet the girls that are using the website to get even with an ex or their parents. I hooked up with this awesome Sicilian girl, googly moogly hot, and said she wanted to fool around to get even with her parents. Like I said, fun.

I wonder where that lawsuit about this is going. I remember someone suing either yahoo or match.com about setting up fake people to attract/keep customers.
