master vs slave question

Ive got an ide cdrom and a sata hdd. I have the cdrom jumper on master and using ide-1 master connection on ribbon cable. I have the sata hdd plugged into sata 1 connecter on mobo and sata plug from psu Trying to load xp pro but not starting. says its bootingg from cd but just sits. Do I have the hdd and cdrom set up properly??

Yes you do. Have you tried a different CD-ROM drive? Is the XP CD scratched?

brand new on both accounts

try diff SATA port
check your jumper settings on both drives
check and make sure the cable isn't plug into the back of drive backwards

are you trying to book from CD-ROM to install win xp? change boot priority in bios to CD-ROM first.

take the sata drivers off of the cd and put them on a floppy. then, put the cdrom as the boot and boot off the xp cd. then when it says hit f6 to enter scsi drivers... do it. use the drivers on the floppy. that will fix your problem.

Is your copy of XP a legit one, or a copy?
