Out of your entire list, only one of them is justified by me (see bolded). The rest should just be discovered the old fashioned way: by asking people what they think.
My thinking is they are doing this, because hardly no one wants to spend time giving feedback. I know I don't. So the only way to accomplish it would be to use telemetry to achieve the goal.

I'm actually in full agreement with you on that point. That said, we aren't really talking about telemetry. Telemetry has been part of Windows for awhile now and we have always had the option to send that data to MS in the event of a system crash or troubleshooting. It's a rather simple thing to send a dxdiag or other tech data to MS to aid them in fixing bugs.

What we are talking about with Windows 10 is behavior data that is designed for targeted marketing and advertising, not system stability. I'm open to various points of view on this topic. Many people believe that we shouldn't complain because we already give up so much privacy to cells phones, tablets....even our cars. Maybe that true. I for one think that being a guinea pig for consumer marketing shouldn't be a mandatory price of entry simply to use my PC.

Nonsense. Do marketers follow you home from the store to find out what kind of milk you put on your cereal? Does Columbia bug your jacket to see when it's worn most, and how it's used?

Work's hard, and it sucks. That's why it called work. Other companies get around the issue. Maybe not at maximum efficiency, but well enough. MS, and other tech companies can get their data honestly, and make the best of what they get. They'll do fine, and their customers will do better than they do under the current system, and certainly better than where things are headed.

I think I should buy stock in Reynolds Wrap also.

Seriously. My favorite post was the one where the guy cited all of his sources from a blog that has "Conspiracy theories" and "Lunatic Fringe" displayed boldly and proudly right in the banner.

Threads like these are seriously making me come to this forum less and less. It seems like the only people that still post here are off their meds. This is supposed to be a computer and technology enthusiast forum, but these days it reads more like an apocalypse survivors forum, everything is nonsense about Big Brother bending us over.

Really, really wish the mods would crack down on this stuff but it seems they don't care.

seriously, 2 of the 30 most recently updated threads involve Microsoft spying. You shouldn't have a problem overlooking them.

Maybe they could crack down on thread crapping instead?

Seriously (if we're going to do the "seriously" thing), how is OK to AD Hom and deride a bunch of people just because you don't care about something that they do care about?
