Massive List of Cell Phone Deals, Service Plan Promotions, Info on Number Portability

List of phone deals running currently(12/03).

If you see a phone you like, but dislike the service, you can unlock a lot of these phones, but you will not get the phone at said price without an activation of 1-2 Years.

These are mainly just phone prices, few holiday promotions. They do [/b]NOT[/b] include monthly service plan charges, activation fees(unless noted), or any other type of fees.

Although these are mostly phones, I advise you to NOT pick a phone first. Pick a service provider, than a phone. Here is why;

1)As always, YMMV on service. It is pretty much a fact that at least one or more service providers will have poor service in your area. I suggest you research, ask co-workers, friends, family about their service.

2)Also look into customer service, if you save $50 with company "A", but have to wait on the phone with customer service an average hour longer...is it really worth it? Up to you. :)

3)Service Plans vary, one provider might give you more anytime minutes for the same price as another privider.

Key
YMMV = Your Mileage May Vary(means your experience my vary from someone else?s)
IR = Instant Rebate
MIR = Mail In Rebate
AMIR = After Mail In Rebate

I?ve listed numerous phones, but these are not the only ones on sale. I?ve provided links to all the main wireless providers(sorry nextellers ;) ) I advise you check out their website if you don't see anything linked here. If a link of mine doesn't work, or I have miss printed information, please kindly PM me or post about it here, Thanks!

Although, quite a few of the pda phones were on sale...not really hot. The MPX200 is FAR with a 2 year. The best phone deal is the Nec 525 from attwireless.com

free Nec 525
free activation
free headset

...just have to pay per month, $29.99 and up plans.

Wow.. that ATT deal for the NEC 525 is awesome. No MIR, no shipping, just $0 then whatever plan you want. But is that phone any good? Also, how is ATT's coverage?

great thread, Whozit.

can you possibly add this?

Help build a cellular reception database.

http://www.mobiledia.com/

not my site, but i think this is a very cool idea.

leave a quick comment on the reception in your area, with your provider!

(btw, this is the only site i found from Google.....if there's a more established site, lmk!)

I think you should also add Howard Forums.
I go there for all questions related to cell phones, service providers etc. Great site. Howardchui.com and Phonescoop.com have cell phone reviews.

FYI if you get a T-Mobile T610 from Amazon.com:
You also get a free Jabra bluetooth headset, and both $100 rebates only require a 1-year contract!!!!!!!!!!!! (so the info above is not correct for this deal)

If you are an exisiting Verizon customer, and looking for a Verizon phone. You might want to swing by your local Verizon center. I went by and asked about phone upgrade and I have no contract with them at the momment. They offered a $100 credit for a 2 yr commitment. Not a real good deal, but beats trying to upgrade via their online store (which doesn't have the LG phones, and non-negotiable prices).

you are correct, you do not need a 2 year for the T610.

It may be a good idea to update your post at the top with this info :)
Actually - I don't think any of the T-Mo phones on amazon.com require a 2-yr contract to get all the rebates, do they?

Thanks nice list! Can someone please help me decide which phone. I want something relatively small (all these seem pretty big though). Color screen is a must, I would like a camera but its not neccessary. I'll be getting a 20 dollar plan...
I'm thinking....

NEC 515/525 (what's the difference?)
Panasonic GU87
Motorola MPx200

Which one????

Kinda off the subject, but does anyone know for sure if Verizon will offer the Keyocera SE47 slider phone in January. It has been rumored they would, but I have not seen a confirmation yet.

Very nice, thank you for compiling that list. I have my eyes on the T610. I just had to cancel my AT&T (w/in the 30 day grace period). I'm out at a paid internship in Minneapolis, MN, but will be going home in six months, and I need a phone / service/provider that can accomodate my move back to central NY. The AT&T rep told me it couldn't happen, so I'd have to pay the cancelation fee ($175)- so naturally I canceled my account before my 30 days ran out.

Is what I'm asking generally impossible for most service providers? It seems to me it should be easy, if they have networks in both areas.

I was on a month to month plan with Tmobile, After Number protibility I called up and said I want a new phone or I'm switching companies, and they gave me a good discount on the T610, $100 no rebates to stay with them, I got to keep my current phone too, so after I sold it on ebay I ended up paying on $50 for a new T610 without switching companies

Well, I myself already ordered the MPX200 from amazon. Ship date is the 13th & I am heavily thinking about canceling the order & getting the 525 from attwireless.com. Why, although the mpx200 is loaded..it has its fault.

No camera, and more importantly, SmartPhone 2002 when 2003 is out and running. Im thinking of getting the nec 525 for a year contract(only have to pay my monthly charge) & my hope is there will be better SmartPhones out in a year.

Had a problem with T-Mobile from amazon. Fixed now, none of the rebates require a 2 Year activation, just some require a $39.99 & up plan.
