I picked up an UNTESTED C533A and shot for 800mhz(8x100)with no luck! So I preceded down the list of bus speeds:95mhz,90mhz,83mhz,75mhz,wouldn't even boot at anything higher than 66mhz. So I tried 68mhz. Woohoo! 544mhz! oh boy. Needless to say,I'm dissapointed. Guess I'm one of the unlucky ones.

Where'd you get the chip? Are you sure they didn't test it and give you the worst celeron 533a ever produced? Even my 466 can kick that chip's ass.

I'll give it another shot and post back, keeping notes this time:D I got the chip from Frys. I am running an Asus P3v4x with 1005 bios,Iwill slocketII,Globalwin heatsink and fan(can't remember the model, but it's good sized with 60mm fan),1.6volts.

In case you don't already know...

AGP divider
Memory timings
Voltage

I'd be very surprised if it can't even break 600.

I was being cautious with my voltage bumping I guess. I got it to boot at 90mhz bus(720mhz) if I cranked it up to 1.75v. At this setting, the temp was up to 45 degrees celcius, which sems pretty high. What's the max temp to shoot for? How about a peltier? Will that get me to 800? All my previous overclocks have been no-brainers. My C366@550 ran at stock voltage,my PIII550@733 runs at stock voltage without any radical cooling. I've been spoiled, now I gotta work for it:D

I heard Golden Orbs are almost as good as Alphas at a fraction of the price when it comes to cooling.

Maybe go for 1.9V with a Golden Orb. I'm considering 1.9V on mine too, but don't know if thats a safe voltage.

I've run mine for a while at 1.9, but I think that's too high, unless you at least have a GORB or something. (I run at 1.8 or less with an Alpha.)

Just a note:

My BIOS gives me an error in the BIOS when the voltage is 1.9 for a Coppermine. I can deactivate the error checking of course, but the point is it seems that Asus thinks that voltage is too high. Not that it means anything, but it doesn't complain about 1.8 though.

The BIOS don't even complain about my 3.7 V VIO setting, even despite all the warnings in the manual.
