Wow... What a piece. I have to say, I was very shocked when I saw the issues this board has. And I almost bought a DFI Lanparty Ultra a while back. heh... Before I starting seeing this issues I liked DFI and always thought of them as a being a nasty OC board. (which is still true but you can't OC when it is busted out of the box... lol)

Ok, So here we go. So this guy built his own Rig... He seems to know a ok amount on this but nothing near me in this area because I even said wrong things on purpose and he just agreed(haha... I know)... He can seem to just to have the know how on building one.

His specs are nice and kill my pc in a few areas a bit but not my Hard drives or PSU or Ram...

Specs

AMD 5600+ Windsor(Am2)
2GB of DDR2 Ram of some weird named brand I have not heard before but they have silver heat spreaders on them.
160GB WD SATA
Evga 8800GTS
DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R
Some Crap Coolmax SLI 600WATT PSU

ok, So he happen to come to me because he could not get his HD to reconize while trying to install windows. He said he tried to install it with and IDE HD and had the same issues. I ran a bunch of hardware tests on the unit and DFT scans and it seems like the PC will see the HD only in SATA ports 1-4 and not 5-8. Which is odd imo... So I went to check in the bios to see if they were locked or turned off.. the bios freezes on me. Ok, So I restart, put the Sata cable in port 1. Seems that the bios sees the HD just fine.

Tried to install windows, it now sees the HD. It goes half way though the install and boom. The whole pc shuts off. Right than and there I think it is a defect mobo or Bios and he needs to RMA it. When I saw this Mobos price($190) I was blown away because the only thing that impressed me was the 8 SATA 3Gb/s Sata ports and the decent SB HSF. O and it being an Nforce 580 I guess... along with the PCI-8X slot...lol

Like I said, I am sure this is an nasty OC-er but when you have a faulty bios like this with a company that does not really want to give you good support on it. (based on newegg reviews) It seems like a pretty bad company. So what do you think this is? You think it is a bad mobo? Bios or Controller? It pasted everything in a Eurosoft mobo test. Memtest went perfect for 4 hours. IT also says bad Bios glitches on the reviews. I was like, "what did this kid do? buy the 2nd most expensive DFI mobo without reading a review?"

This is why I hate the fact that some people who think they can "built a PC", try and all they do is just gather the most or 2nd most expensive stuff on newegg and put it all together and when running into issues ar screwed....Or have bios issues like this guy.... ABIT AN8 ultra anyone? lol

I just felt bad for the kid to be honest. Any other AM2 SLI590-mobo you think I could recommend to the kid later when I see him next? I would stay with the brands I stayed with my whole life and that is EPox and Asus because they pretty much have been quality to me and the other systems I have built. He needs to either RMA this or if it is a Bios issue it needs to be reflashed but I checked the beta Bios and those have issues too... haha
