well since im only 6 months away from graduating with my Certified Massage Therapist license, it really depends on what you are looking to get out of it.

swedish is great for relaxing. this the most comon one i do
Thai is very energenic and not very relaxing
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage where they work your energy in your meridians (not my favorite to do or have done on me)
hot stone, dont know will learn that next quarter after the summer break
I also do sports and orthopedic massage and doing my internship with the CU Athletic dept and the Colorado Crush Arena football club.

I suggest you go get a full body swedish massage to start off with. then go from there.

Hot Stone and Swedish will feel good at the time of the massage, very relaxing, and will get some of the lactic acid out of your muscles.

Deep tissue will make you cry like a little girl. They will find pain you didn't even know you had, but you get more long lasting benefits. Much more lactic acid removal and a increase in flexibility and strength.


I work with a guy who is a very good professional massage therapist. He is a magician at getting sore kinked muscles feeling good again, but I refer to him as Dr. Mengele and he says he isn't causing the pain he's just finding it.

I got some deep tissue massage today at school.. good stuff..

In the end he cracked my back when pressing down on the spine.. not on one place, but several places.. and volia.. all of a sudden i can stand up straighter and actually after the massage i feel re-energized..

mmmmm good stuff..

the deep tissue really hurts, but it feels sooo good.

how many hours of school? mine is 1,000 hours. The next two weeks we are learning on how to treat carpal tunnel. exciting stuff.

Dont know how many hours it is. Her plan is to get it along with a degree in Physical Therapy.
