A constitutional convention will soon be called in an attempt to redefine marriage. I don't care which side you are on, you should call them and tell them where you stand. This is a chance to have a great impact on your government.

I personally offered my support for the SJC ruling and am against changing the constitution.

It should be a non issue. Who cares what others do or what they call their union?

In other words, those who want to force everyone else to live the lifestyle they find acceptable and nothing else. You busybodies, so interested in what everyone else is up to, should mind your own business for a change. Christ, think of all the free time you'd have once you stopped caring what other people do with their own lives. Live and let live I always say.

Not necessarily Dealmonkey, what I am promoting could be an example of what Genesis is referring to "clear and concise definition"...why can't we make the distinction between church and state more clear? why do both the church and the state have to use the same terminology to describe in my opinion two very different things...in one you are talking about a religious union and the other a legal binding, how the two relate is beyond me but it should have never happened.....

the simplest thing to do would be to change the terminology, give the legal a clear and concise name to go along with its cut and dry definition...the word union for everyone, gay or straight, would be the simplest way of making things right

I'll call my representative and tell them that government shouldn't even be in the business of defining marriage.

That really is a very smart thing to do.

Would religious types back off? Or would they be forced to trek on because the impetus for change would shift from the government to them?

Interesting...

B0mbr,

Don't just think of the religious types but also the extremist activists for pro gay marriage....they are not willing to compromise either as they *need* the word marriage to mainstream their lifestyle and at the same time give the perverbial finger to all of the religious types who have been putting them down for so long....I think that on both sides the whackos would take issue with any compromise but for the most part this option would be easier to stomach for those in the middle, makes alot of sense as it furthers the distinction between church and state, and is relatively simple to accomplish.
