Wow...long time waiting for this to come, Patrick is finally contemplating killing the tolls and the overpriced toll takers on the pike except within the city and on boarders...

Here is the story:

Hopefully he can actually get this done, unlike his failed casino plan from before....however somehow I think it will crash and burn as people love big wasteful govt run agencies here.

Funny how the same thing was proposed a few years back and got shot down...hopefully this time it has legs.

Sadly no matter what happens I'm sure it will cost more to travel in the state.

It costs $18 to cross two bridges to get back and forth from Long Island New York.

The tolls are now staffed by the State Police because of the massive amount of money they are raking in per hour.

What is the state/City doing with all that money? Raising taxes of course.

Go ahead let this continue, you will see a Revolution in this country once again.

Good move. I drive the Mass Pike, Springfield west, fairly often and it always aggravates the heck out of me to have to stand in line and stop at least twice-to pick up a toll ticket and hand it back it-when no toll is collected. Talk about a worthless job-collecting toll tickets where the vast majority have no fees.

CT eliminated highway tolls more than a decade ago after a horrendous accident at a toll booth-one of the best things they ever did. They tore out the toll booths so future adminstrations wouldn't be tempted to "temporarily" reinstitute the tolls.

How does the above relate to Mass Pike?

For me I never take the pike into the city, always out west to either Amerst or Natick. Would have rather them cut everything and keep costs the same, but I can live with an 8-15 charge for going into the city...even if I lived out west I would just take the rail though I heard yesterday that parking fees doubled there as well
