100CDs + cover. Ever done it before? Or do you recommend having some company do it?

I got the help, 3 people with burners. And the time (June Wedding). The songs are already picked out, just need to burn. We're not sure about the final CD cover.

So do I
1. Have a company handle the printing/burning & assembly? or..
2. Save the money and do it ourselves.

So, has anyone ever done this before? Or is it better to hire a pro?

Thanks~!

Dude, this is easy to do. Just did it last year for my 10 year HS reunion. It might take a couple days, but just have each person do 33 copies (+1 for you ;) ), and get a CD Stomper from costco or wherever. I know at costco it comes with extra labels, and I think there should be more than enough for your needs.

We never even thought of having a company do it, so I have no idea what that would/might cost.

I'm not even in this business, but I can say this: DUPLICATING CDs is easy. It's making a quality original that's the hard part. :) Not only do you need someone with a professional video camera (read: DV...and not a $700 one either!) but you need someone that has the video editing software that can add lighting, add graphics/text, etc.

That's where you spend the money to have pro, or "a non-pro that knows what he is doing" record your wedding. Equipment + Software + Skill and Experience = $$$.

Take your pic. You could always have Uncle Saul record your wedding on his 1986 Sanyo VHS camcorder that is the size of a small motorhome.

Original has to be quality, visually, and appealling, aesthetically.

Later, rinse, repeat. :)

If you go the burned route, keep in mind that Nero will burn to more than one burner at the same time.

You could do 2 or more at once in one PC if you have more than one burner installed.

IMHO having them done professionally would be better.

Thanks for the responses! Does anyone know if there's CD stomper program that allow you to fade your own image into the backround without having to do it in photoshop first?

Thanks again.

OK...not being a jerk here. But you keep adding all these little things ...a pic on the CD, etc. Unless you either want to:

a. Spend your honeymoon making CDs
b. Alienate all your friends b/c you put them to work making CDs

I suggest you hire someone. :)

I did this for my wedding.. Creating the CDs took a while (retouching, picking pictures, making the gallery, etc). In comparison burning the CDs was cake with only two burners.

Made about 100 CDs, had around 300 wedding/honeymoon images

Are you just putting the images on a CD? I made my gallery in an online format (PHP, html, etc) and transfered them locally using HTTrack (open source freeware). Then i used a program called shellexe to make the html page autoload in windows. I used a cd stomp labeling system for the nice final touch

Well, that is a very helpful post. :) Lots of FREEWARE you can use. *shrug* But it all boils down to this:

Will you trust the permanent capturing of the most special moment in both your lives to Uncle Saul, or someone that does this for a living?

Think of all the ink you need to print covers. Plus consider that Uncle Saul's moterboat-sized 20 year old VHS camcorder doesn't have the greatest quality, and to describe the letdown someone would feel after seeing that while expecting nice digital quality from a CD would get me banned from the forums. ;)

I'm not the one getting married:) I'm just doing my part to help out my cousin. And this will be a compilation of Wedding Songs the bride and groom has chosen. (I didn't know they made wedding picture cds?:Q)

Wedding video, and photographs are being done professionally.
