So I was on the turnpike today in MA and there were a few places where you have to pay $1.25. So the first one I give the woman 1.30 and she takes it, doesn't count it, and waves me on. I'm like that is 1.30 can I have 5 cents back please?

Then at the next one, I didn't realize until after and I stood up from my seat but I gave the woman at the toll 1.15 or 1.05 instead of 1.25. I was using up a lot of loose change (not quarters) and a dime or two slipped through my fingers. Now this woman was counting it but I said "Thanks" and she said "Ok" and I drove off. But she hadn't finished counting.

So my question is what will happen now?

camera catches your plates, finds your address from the registration, sends you the bill + $50 administration fee.

Cash, prolly nothing. You see thousands of cars a day, it's tough to keep track. If you went through the fast lane without a pass...that's a different story.

if they took your money and did not say anything, nothing will happen.

that is what I am thinking. It isn't like you're supposed to throw the money into the basket and go when the light turns green or whatever and I ran it. Instead I gave it to the woman and she allowed me to go.

Or she could just toss in 10cents of her own lol

Some else probably over paid by 10 cents, problem solved :) They're union employee's, nothing's gonna happen.

Like I said, if you went through the Fast Lane without authorization...then you're in some shit.

If I had the choice of spending 10c of my own hard earned money or sending your ass to prison where you belong, well, let's just say you should drive to the nearest police station and turn yourself in before you make things worse.

Her till will be counted and probably reported short based on the traffic that she served that day. She will be given a warning, unless she has a habit of a shorted till, and come back to work the next day. Big whoop.

Then again, this is a government agency, so probably no one will count her till, no one will care how much was deposited and the taxpayers will get ripped off again due to fiscal mismanagement of toll road collections.
