The United States government either currently has, or soon will have, new technology that makes mass surveillance possible

Imagine having your credit or debit card denied at your local retailer because you are suspected of something erroneously, and when you get home your bank calls notifying you all your checks are bouncing because your account has been frozen.:Q

How about this one, you have to make a very important meeting for your boss but homeland security won't allow you to board the airplane.

But then again if your doing nothing wrong why should you be worried?:(

Let me say for the record (ahem) I support our Fuhrer in his attempt to enforce purity on the American nation. Too long have we let ourselves be soiled by the evidoers amongst us. There can be no greater patriotism than following our Leader and eliminating his enemies.
Sieg Heil.

They're coming for you now that you've mocked and derided them! Death to the impure!

EDIT: On a more serious note, I'm moving to Mars or something

What kind of a rant is this? Mass Surveillance has nothing to do with anything you talked about. Run along now...

I must have misinterpreted this part of the article.

Whether it's facial recognition at the Super Bowl, or sifting through e-mail communications, TMS will inevitably produce an unacceptably high number of false positives. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people will not be allowed to board their planes, will have their houses searched, their bank accounts frozen -- at least until the mistake can be cleared up.

And you take the opinion of the author as fact? Right...

This administration can't run a rescue effort, a prescription drug program, a "war on terror," and the idiot in chief can't stay upright on a freakin' Segway -- a machine DESIGNED to remain upright in just about any circumstance short of an earthquake -- CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT THESE MORONS ARE GOING TO DO WITH SOMETHING LIKE TOTAL MASS SURVEILLANCE???

Mars isn't far enough. Pluto isn't far enough. Outside the Solar System isn't far enough. We have to get to another Galaxy -- and soon!

Hmmm but doesnt common sense trump opinion here? Think of all the miscues going on in government now, take myself for example, if you go into Michigan criminal background search and put my name and drivers license in...it actually brings up another man with my name who's serving time in the state pen, i nearly lost my job and almost got kicked outta school cuz of that....and guess what the State of Mich told me I'd have to pay them to fix their error....the issue still isnt resolved at least not until this summer, but in relation to the topic if they screw up something like that, whos to say they wont screw up in a mass surveil network and in error prevent you from getting money or search your house etc??
