Mass shooting stopped by CCW holder
Another article on the incident

From the article

"The subsequent investigation lead detectives to believe that Villagomez entered the bar and at some point began firing multiple rounds. At least two of these rounds struck and killed the other two decedents, Jose Torres age, 20 and his brother Margarito Torres, age 19 both of Winnemucca. At some point during this shooting spree Villagomez allegedly stopped and according to witnesses reloaded his high capacity handgun and began shooting again.

It was at this point that the second shooter, the Reno resident, produced a concealed handgun and proceeded to fire upon Villagomez who succumbed to his wounds. The Reno resident was in possession of a valid Concealed Carry Permit issued through the Washoe County Sheriff?s Office.
"

Well this is becoming more common, crazed shooter taken out by armed citizen. Unfortunately you wont hear anything about this on TV. That being said Im looking forward to the supreme court ruling in June, hope it go's well.

Cool. It's a shame he wasn't able to stop the guy before 2 people died (I'm in no way blaming him, I wasn't there and have no idea about the circumstances).

Most likely the second shooter did the best he could under the circumstances, and likely saved a lot of lives.

Imagine how great this would have turned out if the first shooter didn't have a gun in the first place.

If everyone carried a gun, fewer people would get shot.

It would be even better if everyone had a pet unicorn and magical fairies to take care of their every wish and desire.

When you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns.

And then I shall sharpen the horns of my unicorns, train legions of fairies in the Dark Arts, and take over the world.

Yeah, it'd be great if he wouldn't have had a gun in the first place. But imagination is the only place where that'll play out.

If a psychopath goes to buy a gun but can't get one at a gun shop, he's not going to re-evaluate his life and get help. He's going to find a place where he can acquire a gun.

Until humans can be altered through genetics or technology to stop being so goddamned petty, primitive, territorial, and belligerent, we're going to need weapons.

The more Guns available, the easier it is for someone to use them.

Actually it is quite the opposite and you know it.

If you're walking down the street and you know everyone is packing would you even attempt to do something stupid?

But if you turn it around that the law says no citizen can have a gun like say New York, the criminals know they have the upper hand at all times as everyone is a potential target for them because they know they are the only ones that have a gun.

They know it is extremely unlikely for them to run into a potential victim that can shoot back.

haven't researched nv laws, but the ccw guy would be in trouble here in fl... u aren't supposed to carry in bars, the logic being that even reasonable people get stupid when they get drunk...

although i understand this thinking, since i don't drink it is a problem for me... if i have to go to place with stupid, drunken people that's part of the reason i'd carry...

What the hell are you talking about? The problem is crime, not guns. Are you trying to make the argument that guns promote more crime? I believe this has been discussed and debunked Ad nauseam on this board.

Really, do you think the victims of these crimes care if they've been robbed at gun point instead of at knife point? Do you think they care that they were murdered with a gun instead of a knife? Stop with your bullshit, if you really cared you would be discussing the real issue, instead of wasting all of your time and energy with this anti-gun BS. But it's obvious that you and the rest of the anti Bill of Rights crowd really don't care about the real issues, you just want to advance your anti Bill of Rights agenda.

You're wasting everyone's time by droning on and on about "gun problems", use all of that energy on something more productive.

There are a lot of gun crimes not reported inside of those countries. Look at Japan, there's Yakuza shootings that go unreported.

Violent crime and other metrics yield nothing different. How about that Harry Potter guy who died from a stabbing in the UK despite cameras being everywhere. A few years ago there was a professional athlete killed by an illegal gun in the UK.

What people like you don't realize is that the weapons are only tools by people who will murder or commit crimes. Criminals will always find a way to victimize the populace, whether that be by illegal guns, knives, sticks, or words. Sure, a gun makes it "easier" in some ways, but there are always ways.

My FIL was mugged by a guy with a crowbar and almost died from the head wound after he was bashed.

Get over your desire to control people.

Being drunk and carrying will get your license revoked and you sent to jail. They're pretty strict on things like that.

In a perfect world that would be great but there's A LOT of guns out there and as they say you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Crime is bad, but Crime + Guns is worse. I'd rather be robbed, then Shot and Robbed.

Fixed for accuracy.

If comprehensive gun bans have proven anything it is their total and utter ineffectiveness at reducing overall crime related violence.
