My cousin uses a Mac and has a burgeoning new business going. She's giving classes and has the email addresses of some 1200 people and she sent out notices to all of them in a mass mailing using Earthlink and had a serious problem. 1/2 the people didn't get the email and the other half say they got it 6-8 times! I believe the notice is in the form of a PDF, IIRC. She's using Office 2000's Entourage for the addresses. I have never seen or used this software.

I told her that maybe I could help her, not realizing that she's using a Mac - I'm a PC guy. I write software in FoxPro and Visual FoxPro, and I could create a simple application that would email each entry in a table, however, I couldn't do this on a Mac (unless maybe I got a version of FoxPro for the Mac, but I don't have one).

I told her that sometimes people might not receive an email if it was sent to a list of people instead of directly to them - in the event that they have spam blocking of some kind.

She spoke of another issue that I didn't comprehend - that being the fact that some of the people in her Entourage list were added to her address book and others weren't, depending on how she added them. Thus, apparently, without some additional processing (presumably one by one) she isn't able to include some people in an automatic mailing.

She says that Earthlink denies blame for many of her recipients getting the notice multiple times (thus complaning of being "spammed"). I told her I figured that Earthlink is lying to her, however I don't know that for a fact.

Her classes are evidently very popular and get filled really fast, so when people don't get the notices in time, they are aced out and pissed. She accepts applicants based on the postmark on the envelopes they send her with their applications.

Any help appreciated.
