Mass effect Keybinding question

In particular, reverse slomo - this game has some portions that really crawl, and I'd rather have Slomo keybound then have to open up the console every time, especially since the game has the habit of resetting it.

Most of the other UE games I've played had no issue with doing this, but Mass Effect simply ignores the changes. Anybody got a working version of this?

It works perfectly for me. I did the same thing. Make sure you're editing the right file. The key settings are stored in the BIOInput.ini file in My Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect\Config, not the main game directory.

Bindings=(Name="LeftBracket",InputMode=BIO_INPUT_MODE_NONE,Command="slomo 3",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)
Bindings=(Name="RightBracket",InputMode=BIO_INPUT_MODE_NONE,Command="slomo 1",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False)

Like that, right?

Ah, wait, nevermind. I needed to remove the Inputmode=

Got it now, thanks!

I don't suppose there's a console key to seriously expand the gameplay though? I think a first level DnD mage has more spells then the best biotic in the game.

Magic missiles ftw. Oh, and I'm jacking your slomo keybindings for my next play through.

Just for posterity, that's how it should look.

There's a Slomo?! I'm halfway through on my 2nd character and never knew!

S'ok though, as I don't care. While Mass Effect is a good game, there are too many annoyances and parts that aren't thought out, and that really damages replayability.

I don't know. I've gone through about 2/3 of the game and have hardly bothered using the special abilities at all, as the combat is pretty easy anyway on the normal difficulty.

I just finished my first playthrough as a Vanguard, and I rarely used biotics. However I can see with some of the other classes where you'd rely on them almost exclusively. I'll replay it for the new DL content and check it out.

They're really handy, I also didn't use them much the first time, but now as an Adept, it's nice. Great for pulling stubborn bad guys out of cover :p

Mass Effect has slomo?

Like FEAR or something different?

I played through the game and never knew this, lol.

This thread is referring to the Unreal engine's built-in slomo command. It can be used with a value greater than 1 to increase the game speed. It's not intended to be used at all in Mass Effect but it makes some parts of the game far less tedious and time consuming than usual, especially all the running around and going through elevators.

As CP said, it's part of UE not ME per se. Something I'm making use of cause it's there, and as noted, ME was slow.

And my variety concern was more then spells - that was just a simple example. It's just, you know, you've got relatively few spells, 80 different models of assault rifles all of which are the same with slightly different stats. Same with mods - just stat changes, really. If you didn't see the damage, you'd be unable to tell one rifle from another.

Now the spells are useful - my first runthrough I had no biotics in the party for the last battle. The second time I had two, and it was much easier. It's just.....there are so few spells.

So, over the course of the game, you get maybe 8 to 10 spells, 4 guns and grenades. And that's pretty much it.....just, doesn't seem like much variety. Plenty for an action game, but ME just doesn't provide the kind of focus you need to compete in that arena. And as an RPG....well, that's pretty pathetic.

Ah, thanks.

Ya, the inability the run when not in combat was kind of a silly feature.

I thought it was a good balance, I don't really want more spells added just for the sake of having more.
