No Asian countries like Japan.

The Japanese think that they own all the islands in the Pacific, but really Japan is only America's lapdog. South Korea and China will pwn Japan. The Russians took the Kuril Islands from the Japanese after WWII and the Russians will never give it back, and there is jack shit the Japanese can do about it. Same goes for Dokho and Diaoyu for the South Koreans and Chinese. The era of Japan is pretty much over, just look at Samsung vs. Sony.

Now this post here is just sad and pathetic. Really really sad. Japan took the Senkaku islands in a war with China. Japan won fair and square. S. Korea took Takeshima after world war ii when Japan had no standing army. Similarily, Russia took the Kuril when the Japanese were retreating to homeland in the twilight of the war. As has been shown many times, China does not stand a chance against Japan in a naval conflict. Also, there will not be an invasion of Japan because China simply does not have the logistical ability (yet). S. Korea simply does not register militarily.

Japan takes territories very seriously so the Russians may negotiate in order to normalize relations with Japan.

Finally, as for Samsung vs. Sony, Equating two companies to the larger nations is interesting but false. How many S. Korean companies are world famous? You can count them on one hand. Hyundai, LG, Samsung. There may be one or two others. Fact is, S. Korea does not have a vibrant SME sector that Japan and Germany have. That is why the S. Korean economy is so lop-sided. That is why the S. Korean economy is heavily dependent on a few giants and extremely dependent on exports. That is why the S. Korean economy imports far more from Japan than Japan from it. The truth is, Sony can stumble and Japan will be fine. Should Samsung stumble the entire S. Korean economy will implode.

Returning to the nations' militaries, I find it interesting that you consider Japan weak militarily since that was her choice. As soon as these nationalists come to power or if Japan changes course and decides to normalize her military, I have no doubt that people like you and the leaders in east Asia will shit their pants and protest it.

Finally, Japan does not really care about what the people of China and S. Korea think but the people of China and S. Korea are obsessed with Japan, her successes, her culture, and her past. It is an unhealthy obsession that leads to S. Koreans committing suicide when a Japanese utters simple words or Chinese destroying their own communities when a transaction or words are exchanged in Japan. It is worse than pathetic.

Point of fact remains, Japan isn't getting control of any of the disputed islands. As much as you think other asian countries obsess over Japan, that's just your personal fantasy. But please, continue with your cheerleading.

They have control now of the most important one. Like I said, the Japanese take territories extremely seriously because it gives them control of the fishing and mineral rights in the surrounding areas. So, they will keep what they have and fight for the rest. I predict Russia will cave but the Koeans will hold firm until Japan bulks up, at which point they will run to China for assistance. The Koreans only took Takeshima because Japan could not fight back. As for other Asian obsessions over Japan, you can see it in their media. Violent and destructive protests in China and countless suicides and the cutting of fingers in S. Korea because of something Japan or its people did is fucking madness. The Japanese do not behave this way. You cannot be that passionate unless you are envious, IMHO.

This isn't the 1900's anymore. Japan doesn't have the means to push anyone around. Even if it chose to re-militarize, it's neighbors aren't going to just sit there and let Japan have its way. The only way Japan will take Dokdo (or any disputed island that already has a foreign presence) is if it chooses to declare war on that country. In this day and age? Not happening.

I also like you how attribute a bunch of fringe elements as representative of the general public. By the same token, the Japanese are a bunch of nutjobs that enjoy watching tentacle porn. Clearly a sign of a sick society. See what I did there?

We'll see (about the military normalization). As for your analogy, it is mainstream Korean and CHinese. Look at what is happening now in China. Look at anti-Japanese Korean protests. Lots of craziness going on there. This is not fringe elements but at the heart of these two nations' view of Japan. They hate and are envious of Japan. Cutting off fingers and committing suicide is a normal part of their protests. You will NEVER see that in Japan or America. But you see it in Korea.

One thing that sticks in my mind is that the last world war will be between China and Islam. No other nations and cultures still have the fire. Whomever wins that, controls the world.

Personally I'm rooting for China. In the Book of Evils, Communism pales next to Islam.

I've actually been thinking the same thing since at least high school. There is absolutely no way China would put up with half the shit we do, then again China is pretty non-interventionist at this moment so maybe they won't run into the same issues we did.
