You do at Costco. Was there about 1:15 to get gas for the lawn mowers, and pick up some MEAT before it's gone. Then rolled across the street to TJ's and it was a mixed bag as far as mask wear. About 15% non-participation which surprised me since Trader's is still the only store around here that won't let you bring in your own bags.

Additionally I was making the argument that the emphasis the public is placing on mask wearing as measure of safety can be too high, and potentially counterproductive if it gives a false sense of security and licence to avoid more efficient risk prevention measures, such as quarantining, distancing, and hygienic practices.

My experience so far is that masks seem to emphasize the need for social distancing. They have value in that way, reminding us not to let our guard down. They're like a stop sign of sorts.

Maybe for some, otoh I see people out wearing the masks completely wrong, and sometimes doing jobs that sketch me out (like food handling at grocery store) or getting way too close to people.

Part of the reason PPE is considered less effective, significant possibly of user error.

At least two Walmarts have been closed due to 1/4 of employees testing positive. It took MA about a month to get onboard with compliance.

Walmart was the worst offender I had to frequent.

When I visit Aldi's in Springfield, 100% compliance. Walmart eventually made it mandatory. Out in the sticks it took longer to catch on.

County crew was out in the street today doing some spot patching. 1 or 2 of them had masks on, and many times 6ft distancing was not observed. We may have leveled off, but that's all that will happen with this kind of behavior.

Some people i.e. me, don't fit a universal size so well. Big nose, and broad face. I worked at Evanston Hospital (now Fransican) in Evanston Il for a couple years maintaining medical equipment, like patient monitors. Used to have to gown up in "bunny suits" for Infant Special Care and wear masks, and surgical smocks and pants with paper booties when I had to service gear in the OR's. Masks were kind of hard to get a few weeks ago also. For a while in the beginning I had some cheap wood shop like masks for when I mow the lawn to make do.
