Clearly he was arguing in favor of their rights. As in, if they feel it's their right to jump off a proverbial cliff by not wearing a mask during a pandemic, why should the rest of us stop them from doing so if they're just gonna hate us for it?
Don't destroy his strawman...he'll have nothing left! :p

Personally, I am having a problem believing the young woman in the video to be real. The depth of the insanity expressed by her words seemEd incompatible with the cogency, compactness and breath of subject matter expressed. It looked to me as if she was delivering a well rehearsed speech or acting a part for a TV series.

Putting on my @Greenman shoes, I’d say she her aim was to launch a career of YouTube fame. Her aim, the attention and money.

The need for conformational bias presents a market opportunity.

I never said or implied that wearing a mask wasn't a good idea. Not sure where you came up with that notion.
I didn’t imply you did. You did imply that those folks who don’t want to wear masks have rights that pertain to not wearing masks. So I’m assuming you are consistent in your views and let your folks know that they have rights when it comes to foregoing protective masks.

Thinking about this some more, these folks obviously feel that not wearing a mask is part of their deeply held Christian beliefs. It seems the Hobby-Lobby ruling would probably let business owners claim a religious exemption against having employees wear PPE.

Let me just tell you, here is the thing about N95 masks. OSHA has regulations about wearing them. Long story short. If you work requires you to wear them then they are considered a respirator and you have to get a medical test to make sure that you can wear them. Basically it is to check that you have the lung capacity. However if you work does NOT require you to wear them then they are considered filtering face pieces and you do not have to get the medical test. But you still have to train people on how to wear them. My previous work place we gave as voluntary use. During the training I told people, if you are wearing a mask and you feel light headed, take the mask off, fo outside and catch your breath.

The problem with the general public wearing N95s is that they do not get the training. Probably one of the reasons Fauci did not want people to wear them at the beginning of this, along with the shortage of masks. What the general public should know is, if you are in your car by yourself it is OK to take you mask off.

Good post. I have been fitted for these masks, and I often wear a full face respirator, and rarely a SCBA. The reason we are required to be fitted and tested and our health screened beforehand is that not everyone can wear a mask, especially during strenuous activity. Having thousands of people running around wearing N95's or even half masks with 3M particulate filters there are bound to be some individuals that have issues due to their health.

I see a lot of folks wearing what they do have incorrectly also. Big gaps between the fabric and their cheeks, facial hair not allowing any type a decent seal.

That wasn't my point at all.
My position on masks is that they are necessary, and beyond that, it's simply good manners. They are annoying and uncomfortable, but not as annoying and uncomfortable as being sick for a week. My wife has made over forty of them that she gives to family, friends, my employees, a couple of clients, and the staff at a local assisted living facility.

One could argue that people who don't wear masks are un-American. Anytime you endanger another American's life by action or inaction you are un-American. You are crippling our chances of a quick recovery and a return to normal. Don't you want to get back to normal?

Anyone who doesn't wear a mask should be sentenced to go to a hospital in a hot zone so they can help remove bodies until they break down in tears.

New slogan: MAGAWAM.

Make
American
Great
Again
Wear
A
Mask

That woman in the first video. I made a flip remark about her when it was posted to another thread. On second thought, a better comment is that she and people like her are scary. Scary because she clearly believes the things she is saying. Scary because people are that pliable to insane propaganda. That someone like her will believe literally anything they are told, if told by the "right" people. Scary that a political party has a media propaganda machine which is stoking and weaponizing the crazy of people like her.

Perhaps we can make Trump go away after November. But there are 10's of millions like her in this country, and they aren't going away any time soon.

&

So the masks are killing people now? LOL

The doctors and health professionals will be arrested for crimes against humanity??? LOL
That first video is motherfucking bizarre. God squad lunacy incarnate.

This is why it should be mandatory to teach science, some science to everybody.

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche quotation recommending everyone should learn at least one science thoroughly
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Clever people may learn as much as they wish of the results of science--still one will always notice in their conversation, and especially in their hypotheses, that they lack the scientific spirit; they do not have that instinctive mistrust of the aberrations of thought which through long training are deeply rooted in the soul of every scientific person. They are content to find any hypothesis at all concerning some matter; then they are all fire and flame for it and think that is enough. To have an opinion means for them to fanaticize for it and thenceforth to press it to their hearts as a conviction. If something is unexplained, they grow hot over the first notion that comes into their heads and looks like an explanation--which results progressively in the worst consequences, especially in the sphere of politics. For that reason everyone should now study at least one science from the bottom up: then he will know what method means and how important is the utmost circumspection." -- Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

I'm agreeing with Nietzsche? 2020 is indeed a strange place.
He was smart. He succumbed to syphilis, which was a rough ride and took him down slowly, inexorably... I suppose, I didn't study his decline but he said a lot of real smart things in his time.

He lived to 55, but "lost his mental faculties" by the time he was 44. From Wikipedia:

After his death, his sister Elisabeth became the curator and editor of Nietzsche's manuscripts, reworking his unpublished writings to fit her own German nationalist ideology while often contradicting or obfuscating Nietzsche's stated opinions, which were explicitly opposed to antisemitism and nationalism. Through her published editions, Nietzsche's work became associated with fascism and Nazism;[29] 20th-century scholars contested this interpretation of his work and corrected editions of his writings were soon made available.

If the orange menace had studied just one science, thoroughly from the ground up, we wouldn't be so deep in such deep shit now.

Trouble breathing through a mask? Punch two holes in your chest, instant ventilation. You are welcome.
