Mary Tyler Moore is in grave condition at a Connecticut hospital ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the family tell us her condition is so grim family members are coming to the hospital to say goodbye. The TV icon's long battled diabetes, and she underwent brain surgery in 2011.

One source tells us Mary has been on a respirator for more than a week.

We're told Moore is suffering from a number of health problems and recently it has become critical.

Mary starred in "The Dick Van *** Show" and had an incredible run with "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

So very sad. Few celebrities passing bother me much, but she's like losing an aunt or something. Watched her on one show or the other since I was a little kid.
 
Sorry to hear it but it's hard for me to mourn anyone that makes it past 70 or so. Dying young is often a tragedy, dying old is inevitable. Thanks for the laughs, Mary.
 
very sad. I had such a crush on her as a kid.

I don't read the tabloids. I didn't realize that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as an adult. Apparently it was pretty hard on her in recent years and her health had been in decline for a while.
 
RIP. Only knew of her.

She made it to 80 though which is pretty good. Bunch who died last year did make it to 70.
