I still can't believe they're making this.

Take a look at past performances of Marvel movies as of late. Then you'll start to see why they are going to milk this bad boy to death. It's typical Hollywood...latch on to something and bleed it dry!

me neither. but i will go see it!

I probably will too, them not even pretending that it's not an absurd concept is a good start.

I don't think that common argument really works here, since they're using an IP that most people hadn't even heard of in years (or ever). My first impression is that it will be like Guardians and nothing like their more "serious" superhero movies.

Marvel doesn't really do serious movies though--X-Men, and possibly Captain America come the closest. All of them have jokes and lighter moments.

This is quite the opposite of DC's recently published mandate regarding it's film IP: "No Jokes." ...this is probably why they will never succeed like Marvel.

My point was they will milk Marvel's back catalog dry. Of course it's something people haven't heard of in years - it was never great to begin with. Disney is using everything and anything because it's a cash cow right now, no matter how bad the idea is.

Guys, Ant Man was a founding Avenger. By all rights, he should have been in the Phase 1 films.

Disney's got a good track record with their Marvel films, so I'm certain this one will be just as awesome.

It's not really a back catalogue.

I haven't read Marvel stuff...or any comics...in 20+ years, but from what I've gathered, that whole universe has changed since the first Spider-Man X-Men movies were first greenlit (these I knew, because those were the hotness when I was reading comics in the early 90s. No one read the Avengers, or Iron man, or Captain America. Hawkeye? lol--that guy was a circus clown)

Anyway, in that last 15 or so years, it seems the focus has been on Avengers content, and Henry Pym is all up in that....as the kids are known to say.

FOX does the X-Men movies. Marvel Disney isn't allowed to even use the word 'mutant' in their own films.

Bingo. I loved the Nolan Batman films, but that style failed horribly with Superman. Comic book movies cannot take themselves too seriously.

Yeah, they aren't from Marvel Studios, which explains the difference. Still, they have light moments, and Stan Lee has producer credits on everything, at least. He even appears in these, as well.

I loved Man of Steel. I think it's one of the best Superhero flicks of them all. So slick--the only version of Superman that was worth rooting for. He always sucked until this portrayal, imo.

The Nolan Batman flicks were entertaining...but sapped you dry. Nothing light; just brooding, depressing, fatalistic. Great action flicks, but I hardly think of them as superhero stories. They just don't feel like it.

Michael Keaton is where it's at. None were better.
