Marvell vs. IRST vs. Intel Chipset Drivers for Samsung 840 Pro

I just came to know that Samsung SSDs use the marvel driver.

which gives the best performance in your opinion Marvel, IRST, or the Intel Chipset Driver SATA controller driver?

1. The native Intel SATA ports of an Intel chipset mainboard always give a better performance than the on-board Marvell SATA ports.
2. If your SSD is connected to an Intel SATA port and you have set the Intel Controller within the BIOS to "AHCI" or "RAID" mode, you have to use an Intel RST driver.
3. The Intel Chipset "Drivers" (they contain just INF files and no real driver) may rename the Intel SATA Controller within the Device Manager, but don't have any effect on the function of the Controller.

so what I understand from this is don't install the Marvell Drivers and stick to IRST?

Install the Marvell drivers if you have Marvell ports on your motherboard. They will not affect the speed of the Intel ports. Likewise, install IRST for the Intel ports, they won't affect the Marvell ports.

Best bet is to physically connect the SSD to a 6Gbit SATA Intel controller port.

I have an ASUS Laptop that is based on the Sandy Bridge HM77 chipset. So I guess in my case I should stick to the IRST driver heh?
