So today was my 5th Krav Maga session, and there was a generic sparring session afterwards.
I decided to stay, along with 4 other much more experienced guys.

Suffice to say, I got the shit very thoroughly and good naturedly beat out of me. Bloody nose and all. I want more :D (I did actually manage to land one good combo...)

One of the guys was nice enough to switch off with me (loaned me his gear). All I need are gloves and shin pads. Thanks in advance!

Internet tough guy = OMG I stayed after with 4 level 2 guys! I'm not even level 1, but I landed a chuck-norris double flip-kick combo and nailed their asses! I want more!!!11one

I'm serious. I need gear, and I'm completely clueless about what to buy, what prices are good/bad, which brands are best, etc

Nah. I'd need a license and shit. Screw that. :p

I'd seriously buy one and learn to use it if my parents didn't have a strict no-gun-in-the-house policy. That and I doubt The University of Delaware would take kindly to my having a gun on University property (although I think there is a loophole where you can keep them in your car...).

There's only two items of protection you should wear when sparring in KM - headgear and wraps - mostly so you don't break your knuckles when sparring. You need to get your shins and forearms strengthened up so that deflecting blows won't hurt near as much.

In my younger days our dojo wasn't very wealthy so we used old football helmets, army surplus bullet proof vests, and boxing gloves but everything since then has been "Macho" brand equipement. However I am not familiar enough with Krav Maga. Do you need your fingers free for grappling or closed fist gloves?

Well, the headgear would've been useful today, but I think it'd be better to get a sense of what it feels like. The nose-bleed jab was my fault anyways. I was fatigued as hell by then, so I dropped my arms and more-or-less walked straight into it lol. It won't happen again.

I suppose I could forgo the shin pads. My instructor recommended them, but no one was really making any contact with the shins, so...

From what little I know, not really. This was a generic sparing session, no real Krav Maga techniques other than basic punches and kicks were used. The other guys were using closed fist, but I don't see why it would be required.

In Krav Maga itself, grappling techniques are sometimes employed, but the whole idea is to not apply those techniques in an extended fight. The philosophy is disable quickly and run.

Also, take this with a grain of salt, I'm still a noob here :p
