Marriott Hotels rock

Is it just me or do they really do that well. It's the only hotel chain that I book without even looking at the facilities.

I travel a fair bit and whenever I get a marriott it is just so nice. You have everything you need. Sure they aren't the upper-tier, but for a business traveller they rock. It's all about the service you get, anybody can give you a bed. But being able to pick up the phone and get whatever you need is ohh so nice.

Any other chains that you can rely on in that respect or do they have it down pat?

They refused to rent me a room when I was 18.

Not because of alcohol being served. Not because of money (had it at the time). Just to be douches.

Went to a Fairmont hotel instead for twice the price.

That's not uncommon.

Two things I look for in a hotel:
1. There is a bed in the room
2. Free high speed Internet.

if you didn't call to make a reservation and you're young, they will assume you are renting the room for a party.

Wyndham is GREAT to it's reward members. Everytime I stay I get a free welcome basket with my preferred snacks and drinks, free HSI, and a room prepared to my standards

Nice!

I think I have a starwoods preffered card and I believe windham is a part of that.

So do you trust a windham hotel to provide what you desire? I'd probably put a windham (sp?) above a marriot.

I guess what I'm fishing for is hotels chains that you KNOW will meet the needs of a traveler. From my experience with windham, it qualiifies darn well and offers a good stay.

I've stayed at dozens of Marriots all over North America. And for the money, I'd prefer to stay at Embassy Suites. There you get free cooked to order breakfast and complimentary booze every evening from 7-9pm.

lol, I love their "cocktail hour with hor's d'vores" (sp?)

Good point. I'm not saying "marriot is da bomb", just that I can stay there and know it will be nice.

So far we have:

Marriott
Embassy
Windham

Not the top-tier of hotels, but 4 out of 5 stars IMHO.

yep, me too. It rocks.

The fhing is I'll grab a marriott without even looking at it. I know I'll be just fine.

Same here. Any Marriot, Courtyard or Fairfield. Reserve w/o question. Get points. Have hi-speed Internet... never disappointed.

They're not perfect. I've been to better hotels. But most chains are hit or miss. They're either great or they suck. God.. Amerisuites is certainly the epitome of that. Marriott is never "horrible" so there's never any "surprises" if it's a hotel I'm not familiar with.

LOL!

I'll recall staying at a hilton with bars on the windows and no TV with a guy who had to escort me to my room for safety measures. that sucked.

Raddison has been pretty decent though, not great, but decent.

i prefer hyatt 🙂

Generally, they are great. I've never stayed at one that I wouldn't recommend. However, I've seen some that don't look like luxury hotels.

I've travelled for years and years. By far, the most consistent chain for service and quality of the hotel is Marriott. From their Fairfield Inn to their J.W. Marriott properties - good service and no surprises.

Some other chains are good (Ritz Carelton has always been nice to stay at and I like The Palace Hotel in NYC), but if I don't know the city or the area, I pick Marriott first.

I actually like Amerisuites because of their free hot breakfast wherever. 🙁
